"Skye establishes herself as an artist with stylistic sensibilities which sits her slightly to the left of Pop, with echoes of Christine and the Queens fused with Indie soul vocal textures reminiscent of Florence and the Machine. Intelligent lyrics sit nicely on a lush sonic landscape and invite further exploration."

- Tim Hawes

At nineteen Skyelar decided to pursue her music career further by studying songwriting overseas in London. This opportunity allowed her to train under and collaborate with many internationally recognised artists such as Tim Hawes (Ivor novella award winner, worked with Spice girls, Sugababes, Aaron Carter), Leddra Chapman (Ed Sheeran), Luke Concanoon (Daniel Day Lewis, Jamie Cullum, Ed Sheeran). She also worked alongside Skunk Anansies lead guitarist Ace and Jennie Surmeli in a project called "Tuning In", which encourages youth to get involved in music from a young age. Skyelar was also invited to be a participant of the Luke Cancoon Writing Sessions in London. Skyelar latest single Breathing Underwater quickly made it onto Apple Music new in pop playlist in South Africa, after debuting the track on the Expresso show. The track also received international recognition after being featured on the Cobcast associated with Target Radio in the United Kingdom.

"To begin with, her songs and songwriting  ability make the production process exponentially  better, with clear chordal  structures which are easy to expand on and top lines that tie it all together."
